Enjoy Fruit Desserts This Summer

Many people love fruit desserts, because they are not only tasty and mouthwatering, but they bring a lot of strong memories with them. The wonderful thing about these type of desserts, is that they invoke lots of different emotions, depending upon the occasion that they are featured, as well as a time of year they are served. A great example is with summer coming up, grocery stores are selling lots of fresh summer fruits, such as berries, peaches, and cherries. These type of fruits will be displayed prominently in the kitchens of many people around the world. As such, their playfulness and abundance will make them the prime stars of anyone's summer desserts.

Some very easy, summertime desserts that are delightful, are fresh berries in the midst of a pie. One of the first type of pies that people think about when they're celebrating the summer it together, is the strawberry pie. These are some of the most easiest pies to create, because most people simply wash the strawberries, season the berries with sugar. These get served with a crust topping, or without, and then they are usually topped with a dollop of cream. Even more simple, and yet just as welcome, is the berry parfait, layered with cream. To add flair to your parfaits, simply top these with shaved chocolate. You can also create a gelatin mold with bits of fresh fruit for the kids.

These are desserts that are familyfriendly, but adults certainly have their own versions of fresh summer fruit desserts as well. For example, a wonderful dessert to serve for adults would be black cherries flambeed in brandy. You can do the same with peaches, or you can use rum as the alcohol. Serve these on top of high quality vanilla bean ice cream, and you've created a refreshing, sophisticated adult dessert. One more adult summer fruit dessert for adults to enjoy, is grilled summer fruits. You simply slice fruits such as pineapples, peaches, or even mangoes. You can marinade them in an alcohol base, or make them family friendly by slathering them with a base of butter and cinnamon, and grill them. For those who are watching excess sugars, you can season your grilled fruits with lemon, and even ginger! The heat will bring out a layer of sweetness and flavor that would otherwise remain hidden from the taste buds!

The cools winds of autumn and winter brings about changes in moods, and in festivities. As such, the types of foods that people enjoy changes, and certainly fruit desserts will change along with these aspects. The cool breezes invoke longings of warmth, and comfort. The desserts that one serves should complement these emotions. This is why people enjoy desserts that have rich flavorings, spices, and the make people feel that they've been wrapped in a warm blanket when they eat them. This is why there's nothing more satisfying and appropriate as a hot slice of fresh apple pie. Who doesn't love the the aromas of fresh, juicy apples being complemented by cinnamon and vanilla extract filling up one's home? Whether you enjoy it as is, topped off a la mode style with ice cream, or with whipped cream, this is a dessert that no one will be able to say no to. To this end, the cherry gets to be a star all year long also, because the same recipes that are great for apple pies can easily be converted for cherry pies, cherry crumbles, or cherry dumplings.

Don't think that you have to stick to fresh fruit for your desserts. You can create the same magic in some cases using canned fruit, and in some cases with recipes, taking advantage of the consistency of thawed frozen fruit will almost work to your advantage. Keep this in mind when you have to use fruit for a recipe that calls for the fruit to be pureed, for example. Since fruit in some form is universally enjoyed, when you are thinking of ways to treat your guest, you almost can never go wrong with fruit desserts.
